SUSTAINABLE CRAFTSMANSHIP
Bernardi Woodworking is a custom cabinetry studio based just outside Boston, Massachusetts. Founded by Joe Bernardi after nearly a decade of building custom cabinetry on nights and weekends, the business grew steadily before becoming his full-time focus in December 2024. Today, Joe and his team design, build, and finish each piece by hand in their Melrose workshop.
Leveraging premium hardwoods and traditional joinery techniques, Bernardi Woodworking focuses exclusively on custom built in cabinetry - kitchen cabinets, built-in bookcases, closets, mudroom cabinets, and media centers - with 1% of annual sales donated to environmental non profits.
Thank you for stopping by, and we look forward to working with you on your next built in cabinetry project!

“Joe turned a mostly unused, wasted space in our living room into a beautiful built-in bar, window seat, bookshelf, and cabinets. The quality and efficiency were outstanding and he was very communicative throughout the entire process - from initial design to installation. Highly recommend Bernardi Woodworking!” - Jessica L
“Joe recently built a set of built-in bookshelves for our house in Medford and I could not recommend his services enough. Joe was highly professional, walking us through the process and being proactive with work and communication throughout. He built the project in his shop and assembled it in our house later to minimize interruptions. As you can see by the picture, the final product was outstanding. This will be a centerpiece of our home for decades to come. Thank you, Joe!” - Andy W
“I was looking for a cabinet maker in the Wakefield/Melrose area who was able to blend art and function seamlessly and I was referred to Joe. I cannot say enough good things about my experience!
I had a very specific custom piece that I needed and as someone who has worked in interior design I was very particular about ALL the details. We live in a small historic house that has a French cottage feel, and I wanted a very large piece that was functional but also would look like it was always a part of our home. There was a lot of back and forth emails as I explained my vision to Joe and he was SO patient with me and it was clear he wanted to get it just right.
Joe went above and beyond and really nailed my vision to perfection. I can't stop staring at these cabinets- they are as beautiful as they are functional. My experience with Joe was a 10/10, I will definitely be using him in the future!!” - Heather C
